Rooteins I recommend building

1. Daily Planning/evaluations

I used to scoff at "planners". Then I read a post by Chris Guillebea on how he plans his entire life around goals, and breaks it down into sections of time and reviews regularly. I've since adopted this plan, and it's worked wonders.

Every morning I plan my day. I go over goals. If I didn't do this, I wouldn't get a fraction of what I do done.

2. Get up early

Morning is when I really make things happen. I'm sharp, fresh, and there really aren't any distractions from 6am-8am.

3. Exercise everyday

Recently it's been 6 times a week. If I don't exercise I get cranky and my productivity grinds to a halt.

4. Read a book

I read every morning. Want to be smarter? Want to be successful? You gotta read. Books. They fill your creative tank, and they pretty much improve every aspect of life.

5. Meet/Talk to a friend

My wife has helped a lot with this, but my offline friends and family are a major reason for my success. I try to hang out with them multiple times throughout the week. Online friends are great, but they never trump offline friends.
